This Technote will display a method of accessing your e-mails if for some reason our E-Mail server is unreachable.
Just for background knowledge all of our e-mails come into Sealion Shipping via a company called ‘Mimecast’ and Mimecast give us the capability of accessing our e-mail directly from their servers.
Accessing E-Mails Through The Mimecast Tab In Outlook
In Outlook you will find a Tab called Mimecast.
Once opened you will see an option for your ‘Online Inbox’.
You need only click this once and a new Mimecast window will open up showing your e-mails. The only thing that won’t be there is your Outlook folder structure; though the e-mails in your folders will be in your Mimecast inbox. One more step and you will be off and running.
After the Mimecast window pops up you will need to allow Mimecast to be your temporary e-mail portal and that is done through your Outlook Mimecast tab. So go back to your Outlook and click the ‘Activate Continuity’ button.
Once you have activated continuity you can then use the Mimecast window to read and send e-mails as normal.
Returning To Outlook Once Our E-Mail Server Is Up And Running
To return to Outlook once our e-mail server is running you just need to close down the Mimecast Window and click the ‘Activate Continuity’ button to de-activate continuity. All e-mail activity you have done in the Mimecast window will replicate into your Outlook.
Accessing E-Mails Through The Mimecast Web Portal
If you are not infront of your PC and thus are not using Outlook, you can access your Mimecast inbox through their portal.
Right click on the following link and choose ‘Open In A New Tab’. This will open up the Mimecast website in a new tab. https://www.mimecast.com/
After the webpage has opened you will see the ‘Login’ option in the top right corner.
After you click login you will be faced with a number of tabs. What you need is ‘Access To My E-Mail’ tab and click the orange ‘Access To My E-Mail’ button.
At the new screen type in your Sealion Shipping e-mail address and click next.
Once entered you will then be asked for your password. Leave the centre option as ‘Domain’ and type in your usual network password.
Now you are into your e-mails. You will be first see a tab showing your “bounced e-mails”. To change to your Inbox click the envelope icon on the far left and your inbox will appear.
From here you can send and receive e-mails without having to ‘Activate Continuity’ as you would have if you had gone through Outlook.
Closing The Web Portal
Click on your name in the top right hand corner and choose ‘Log Out’. All e-mail activity you have done in the Mimecast window will replicate into your Outlook.
