Problem

After uninstalling McAfee VirusScan Enterprise you may need to uninstall the McAfee Agent. You cannot as it says it is being “managed”

 

Resolution

Locate the file frminst.exe (located in C:\program files\McAfee\Agent\x86 (in Windows 7)

Open a cmd prompt (elevated) and type cd \ and hit return

Drag the file frminst.exe into the command window – and the prompt will look like this

C:\”program files\McAfee\Agent\x86\frminst.exe”

Type after the speech marks space /forceuninstall as below

C:\”program files\McAfee\Agent\x86\frminst.exe” /forceuninstall

and hit return

You will see the command throw up a McAfee window and the agent will get uninstalled.

That’s it.
