What To Do When Chrome Refuses To Recognise Your Windows Default Printer

There are a few times when Chrome doesn’t change its default printer inline with your Windows default printer and you continually have to manually change your printer whenever you wish to print.

Here is a method to force Chrome to recognise your windows default printer.

  1. Close Chrome.
  2. Right click on the windows icon in the bottom left of the screen and choose ‘Run’.
  3. Type in the run box. %localappdata%\Google\Chrome\User Data\Default and press enter
  4. When the Windows Explorer box opens find a file called ‘Preferences’
  5. Rename it to whatever you wish.
  6. Open Chrome.
  7. You will find that some things have changed, you just need to put these back, but such items as bookmarks and recent history have remained.

Now you will find that Chrome should follow the default printer in Windows.
