Hunt Groups are found under System, Devices & Feature Codes. You will see Hunt Groups under Local and Remote sites
Click on Local and you will see in RHS window all existing Hunt Groups (the hunt group ID is created by the system in a range that is different from the phone extension range)
Hunt Groups are bunch of extensions that will ring for 15 seconds one after the other. They can comprise a number of single extensions or can include a group of extensions in a Phone Single Line Extension List (aka Station List)
To Create a Hunt Group
- Select Local. Then right click on RHS – create Hunt Group. The starting extension number should be selected to follow the existing numbers. Click OK. Then name it something meaningful.
- Double click on it and you will see it displayed on LHS. Right click on RHS and “Add to Members List”
- Select appropriate phone type (52xx IP; 86xx older IP; Digital Phone SSL type phone).
- Then select member (or members by Ctrl click). Then Add Items. Finish.
Now when you dial the Hunt Group number the phones would ring in that order one after the other. Drag and drop a number to re-order the ringing order.
If you want some phones to ring at the same time you need to create and add an Extension List (a phone group).
To Create an Extension List
- Under the same Devices & Feature Codes select Extension Lists. On RHS double click on Phone. This will show the current Phone Extension Lists (Pxxxx numbers) These numbers cannot be dialled by a phone.
- On RHS right click “Create a Phone Extension List”. .Select the next Starting Extension in the list. Click OK.And name it something meaningful.
- Double click on new Pxxxx and it will appear on LHS. On RHS right click “Add to Pxxxx Description List”. Select appropriate phone type (52xx IP; 86xx older IP; Digital Phone SSL type phone). Then select member (or members by Ctrl click). Then Add Items. Finish.
To Add to Hunt Group
Select last created Hunt Group number, Members on LHS and on RHS “Add to Members List” and select “Single Line Extension List” and select the Extension List you just created (Pxxxx) and Add Items. Finish
Now the behaviour of the group is this
If the first number is called it will ring for 15 seconds; then the second number will ring for 15 secs; then (if you have one) all the phones in the Extension List will ring for 15 secs; and then it goes round the same order again.
