Setting Up a Mitel 5312 IP Phone in the Office for Home Use

NB:  When  entering numbers * = back space

 Amended to reflect DAISY IP range

Plug into outside network  cable

  1. Hold down < > keys together and plug in until it says
  2. “NETWORK PARAMETERS?”
    1. Yes *
  3. Press # three times to get to “Static IPV4?”
    1. Yes *
  4. “View IPv4 PARAMS?”
    1. No #
  5. “Modify IPv4 PARAMS?”
    1. Yes *
  6. “Modify Static IPv4”  Use scroll down   press > one time
    1. Phone IP Address: 195#224#2#46  Press  >
    2. Default Gateway IP: 195#224#2#33 Press  >
    3. Subnet Mask: 255#255#255#240  Press  >
    4. ICP IP Address: 195#224#2#38 Press  >
    5. TFTP Server IP Address: 195#224#2#38 Press  >
    6. TFTP Server Port: 69  Press  >
    7. Press >  Press > Press > till you get to
    8. Ping Test? Press  No #
    9. STORE CHANGES Yes * (saving to Nvram)
    10. REBOOT NOW Yes  *

Let the phone reboot and get to the point where it says Secret Code Enter ***extension number  (ie ***1295) Then Press the Superkey (the blue key on the 5312). Now be patient as this takes at least five minutes after it gets to “TFTP: Main” to display the extention number, name and time.

Note that the Superkey is used to register the MAC address with the server. You will not have this step if you pre-registered it when you set up the account.

The phone will then boot to a normal display like in the office with the x extension number (in the above case x1295 and the allocated phone name and time).

 

Now that it works you need to change the phone IP address to DHCP. Unplug and………..

  1. Hold down < & > keys together and plug in
    1. “View Network Parameters”
    2. Yes *
  2. Press # three times to get to “Static IPV4?”
    1. Yes *
  3. “View IPv4 PARAMS?”
    1. No #
  4. “Modify IPv4 PARAMS?”
    1. Yes *
  5. Use scroll > press 1 time
    1. Phone IP Address 195#224#2#46
      1. Type 0#0#0#0 Press  >
    2. Default Gateway IP: 195#224#2#33
      1. Type 0#0#0#0 Press  >
    3. Subnet Mask: 255#255#255#240
      1. Type 0#0#0#0 Press  >
    4. Leave ICP IP Address at: 195#224#2#38 Press  >
    5. Leave TFTP Server IP Address at:195#224#2#38 Press  >
    6. Leave TFTP Server Port at: 69  Press  >
  6. Press >  Press > Press > till you get to
  7. Ping Test? Press  No #
  8. STORE CHANGES Yes * (saving to Nvram)
  9. REBOOT NOW Yes  * (Resetting Phone)

Let the phone reboot to the point where it says DHCP: Discovery . Then you can unplug and pack away. Job Done!
