To Setup InterTel 8622 IP Phone as an Internal & External Extension

NB:         Plug into outside network cable

 

Note that on the InterTel 8622 phone there is a set of programmable buttons on right.

The top two are MUTE (on left) and FWD (on right)

The bottom two are TRANSFER (on the left) and OUTGOING (on the right)

 

To switch phone mode to SIP (unusual) press number keys 1&2 when plugging into power

To switch phone to Inter-Tel (correct) press number keys 5&6 when plugging into power

To access the menu press number keys 7&8 when plugging into power

To reset the phone to DHCP choose Default (2) at the menu after pressing 7&8

To program for a static IP chose Program (1) at the menu after pressing 7&8

 

When entering numbers MUTE = a back space

When entering IP numbers key * for a dot (.)

IP addresses need to be three digits (ie 002)

TRANSFER moves you UP through the menu

OUTGOING moves you DOWN through the menu

Plug into outside network cable to setup for remote site

 

First register phone MAC address with associated extension number (See tech note)

 

For phone to be used as an internal extension set to Default (ie DHCP)

  1. Connect phone to a LAN Ethernet connection (office network)
  2. Hold down 7 & 8 keys together and plug in until it says
  3. “PROGRAM DB=1 and DEFAULT=2” Select default (Press 2) Press > OUTGING
  4. Save Changes? Select Yes (Press 1)
  5. Press any key to reboot. It now contacts the system and authenticates.
  6. It then shows a normal display with the xxxx extension and Name

 

For Off-site extension (Home Worker) Set Up

  1. Connect phone to a WAN Ethernet connection (IP on the outside)
  2. Hold down 7 & 8 keys together and plug in until it says
  3. “PROGRAM DB=1 and DEFAULT=2” Program DB (Press 1)
    1. Phone IP Address: 195#224#002#042  Press  > OUTGOING
    2. Subnet Mask: 255#255#255#240  Press  > OUTGOING
    3. Default Gateway IP: 195#224#002#033 Press  > OUTGOING
    4. Remote ICP IP: 195#224#002#038  Press  > OUTGOING
    5. Remote UDP Port: 5567 Leave as is Press > OUTGOING
    6. Remote TCP Port: 5566 Leave as is Press > OUTGOING
    7. Password: ******* Leave as is Press > OUTGOING
    8. TFTP Server URL: 192#168#200#202 Leave as is Press  > OUTGOING
    9. Enable DHCP: No (Press 2) Press > OUTGOING
    10. Phone VLAN ID: 0 Leave as is Press > OUTGOING
    11. PC Port VLAN ID: 0 Leave as is Press > OUTGOING
    12. Save Changes: Yes (Press 1)
    13. Press Any Key to reboot. It now contacts the system and authenticates.
  4. It then shows a normal display like in the office with the xxxx extension and Name

 

Now that it works you need to change the phone IP from Static to DHCP.

  1. Unplug cable (WAN cable)
  2. Hold down 7 & 8 keys together and plug in until it says
  3. “PROGRAM DB=1 and DEFAULT=2” Program DB (Press 1)
    1. Phone IP Address: 195#224#002#042  Leave as is Press  > OUTGOING
    2. Subnet Mask: 255#255#255#240 Leave as is Press  > OUTGOING
    3. Default Gateway IP: 195#224#002#033 Leave as is Press  > OUTGOING
    4. Remote ICP IP: 195#224#002#038  Leave as is Press  > OUTGOING
    5. Remote UDP Port: 5567 Leave as is Press > OUTGOING
    6. Remote TCP Port: 5566 Leave as is Press > OUTGOING
    7. Password: ******* Leave as is Press > OUTGOING
    8. TFTP Server URL: 192#168#200#202 Leave as is Press > OUTGOING
    9. Enable DHCP: Yes (Press 1) Press > OUTGOING
    10. Phone VLAN ID: 0 Leave as is Press > OUTGOING
    11. PC Port VLAN ID: 0 Leave as is Press > OUTGOING
    12. Save Changes: Yes (Press 1)
    13. Now you can give phone to Home Worker
