{"id":616,"date":"2016-12-13T15:11:25","date_gmt":"2016-12-13T15:11:25","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/help.sealionshipping.co.uk\/?p=616"},"modified":"2016-12-13T15:11:25","modified_gmt":"2016-12-13T15:11:25","slug":"adobe-reader-cannot-find-or-create-the-font","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/gardiner.tech\/bluebook\/blog\/2016\/12\/13\/adobe-reader-cannot-find-or-create-the-font\/","title":{"rendered":"Adobe Reader &#8220;cannot find or create the font&#8221;"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>\t\t\t\t<strong>Problem<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>When opening a PDF in Acrobat Reader you get the following warning regarding a missing font<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/gardiner.tech\/bluebook\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/12\/Adobe-font-1.png\"><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"alignnone size-medium wp-image-618\" src=\"http:\/\/gardiner.tech\/bluebook\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/12\/Adobe-font-1-300x101.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"300\" height=\"101\" srcset=\"http:\/\/gardiner.tech\/bluebook\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/12\/Adobe-font-1-300x101.png 300w, http:\/\/gardiner.tech\/bluebook\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/12\/Adobe-font-1-250x84.png 250w, http:\/\/gardiner.tech\/bluebook\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/12\/Adobe-font-1.png 519w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>This can be the result of the PDF being created in a third party app.<\/p>\n<p>The issue is that on similar computers with exactly the same OS &#8211; you are able to read the file without a problem.<\/p>\n<p>There are many resolutions on the internet from re-installing Acrobat Reader by first removing <strong>all<\/strong> Adobe products, associated files and folders to using tools to embed the correct font.<\/p>\n<p>If you check the font used in Acrobat (open the file and go to File, Properties, and the Font tab) it will show a list of the fonts used in the document.<\/p>\n<p>On a good machine for the above font the properties read<\/p>\n<h6>Type: TrueType (CID)<\/h6>\n<h6>Encoding: Identity-H<\/h6>\n<h6>Actual Font: Lucinda Sans<\/h6>\n<h6>Actual Font Type: TruType<\/h6>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>On a problem machine the properties read<\/p>\n<h6>Type: TrueType (CID)<\/h6>\n<h6>Encoding: Identity-H<\/h6>\n<h6>Actual Font: Unknown<\/h6>\n<h6>Actual Font Type: Unknown<\/h6>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><b>Resolution<\/b><\/p>\n<p>The font installed is an older version and will need replacing<\/p>\n<p>Search the web for the font (in this case Lucida Sans Regular &#8211; a TrueType Font ie a .ttf) and download.<\/p>\n<p>Drag and drop font from the download location to the C:\\Windows\\Fonts folder.<\/p>\n<p>Then test rogue document.\t\t<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Problem When opening a PDF in Acrobat Reader you get the following warning regarding a missing font This can be the result of the PDF being created in a third party app. The issue is that on similar computers with exactly the same OS &#8211; you are able to read the file without a problem.
