You may not need to try them all; just start at the top of the list and work your way down.<\/p>\n<p><strong>1: Disable Windows Search Service<br \/>\n2: Disable SuperFetch Service<br \/>\n3: Perform a diskcheck<br \/>\n4: Reset Virtual Memory<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h3>Method 4: Reset Virtual Memory<\/h3>\n<p>Virtual memory can be considered an extension of your computer\u2019s physical memory. It\u2019s a combination of RAM and a portion of your hard drive. When the RAM isn\u2019t enough to perform a task, Windows will temporarily store files in virtual memory, then swap them back to RAM when required.<\/p>\n<p>To reset virtual memory:<br \/>\n<strong><br \/>\n<\/strong>1) On your keyboard, press <strong>Windows key<\/strong> and <strong>Pause\/ Break<\/strong> key at the same time. If you\u2019re not sure what value to use, just enter whatever the number is in the <strong>Recommended<\/strong> category.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Maximum size<\/strong> \u2013 Don\u2019t set this value too high. It should be about 1.5 times the size of your physical RAM. e.g. A\u00a0PC with 4 GB (4096 MB) of RAM should have no more than about 6,144 MB virtual memory (4096\u00a0MB x 1.5).<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Once you\u2019ve entered your virtual memory values,\u00a0click\u00a0<strong>Set<\/strong>, then click\u00a0<strong>OK <\/strong>to continue.<strong>\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n<p id=\"uzzsCqm\"><img class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-20830 \" src=\"https:\/\/images.scdn8.secure.raxcdn.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/06\/img_594c7a99b0545.png\" sizes=\"(max-width: 392px) 100vw, 392px\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.drivereasy.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/06\/img_594c7a99b0545.png 392w, https:\/\/www.drivereasy.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/06\/img_594c7a99b0545-227x300.png 227w\" alt=\"\" \/><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>6) Clear all your computer\u2019s \u2018temp\u2019 files.\u00a0On your keyboard, press<strong> Windows key <\/strong>and<strong> R <\/strong>at the same time, then in the Run form, type <strong>temp <\/strong>and hit<strong> Enter<\/strong>.
