{"id":1172,"date":"2017-05-23T10:59:41","date_gmt":"2017-05-23T10:59:41","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/help.sealionshipping.co.uk\/?p=1172"},"modified":"2017-05-23T10:59:41","modified_gmt":"2017-05-23T10:59:41","slug":"barracuda-archiveone-client-how-to-prepare-troubleshoot-offline-synchronization","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/gardiner.tech\/bluebook\/blog\/2017\/05\/23\/barracuda-archiveone-client-how-to-prepare-troubleshoot-offline-synchronization\/","title":{"rendered":"Barracuda ArchiveOne Client &#8211; How to Prepare \/ Troubleshoot Offline Synchronization"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>\t\t\t\tYou can configure ArchiveOne so that a laptop (or any other type of PC) that is sometimes online and sometimes offline from the network that the ArchiveOne Service is on can maintain a copy of the mailbox archive which can be used when they are offline.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<div class=\"container\" data-id=\"43222756\">\n<article class=\"techlib-article size-m\">\n<div class=\"row\">\n<section id=\"page-main\" class=\"col-xs-12 col-lg-9 main-col\">\n<div class=\"techlib-article-text position-relative\">\n<h4 class=\"heading-index heading-requirements\" data-parent=\"h3_0\" data-counter=\"1\" data-depth=\"4\"><\/h4>\n<h4 id=\"h4_1\" class=\"heading-index heading-requirements\" data-parent=\"h3_0\" data-counter=\"1\" data-depth=\"4\">Requirements<\/h4>\n<ul>\n<li>Laptop must be running an OST copy of the server based mailbox.<\/li>\n<li>On a regular basis, the laptop must be connected to the network that the ArchiveOne Service is on in such a way that they have the same access permissions as a standard PC that is permanently connected; it is not sufficient to have a dial-up connection unless that gives the laptop fully authenticated access. Specifically, they must be able to see server shares on the network.<\/li>\n<li>Requires Microsoft Outlook 2003 or later on the laptop, and the <a href=\"https:\/\/campus.barracuda.com\/product\/archiveone\/article\/display\/BPE\/43222771\/\">Laptop Client<\/a> component installed.<\/li>\n<li>Whereas most mailbox archive data can be stored either on a hard drive or a storage manager, archive data for mailboxes that are being synchronized must be located on a hard drive. This means it is the administrator&#8217;s responsibility to ensure they are suitably backed up.<\/li>\n<li>Laptop cache is stored in Users, AppData, Roaming folder on the C drive. This drive must have more than 10% free space or the synchronisation stops. <span style=\"color: #ff0000;\"><strong>A red bar and there will be no sync updates.<\/strong><\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<div class=\"container\" data-id=\"43222756\">\n<article class=\"techlib-article size-m\">\n<div class=\"row\">\n<section id=\"page-main\" class=\"col-xs-12 col-lg-9 main-col\">\n<div class=\"techlib-article-text position-relative\">\n<h4 id=\"h4_4\" class=\"heading-index heading-prepareforofflinesynchronization\" data-parent=\"h3_0\" data-counter=\"4\" data-depth=\"4\">Prepare for Offline Synchronization<\/h4>\n<p>In order to allow a user to synchronize the archive of their mail onto their laptop, the administrator needs to prepare with the following steps:<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>Log in to ArchiveOne Admin, and click <strong>Mailbox Manager<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<li>Click on the mailbox in the right pane you want to enable for offline synchronization.\n<div class=\"alert alert-info m-alert-icon m-icon-info\">\n<p><em>If the mailbox is not in the list,<\/em><\/p>\n<ol>\n<li><em>Right-click <strong>Mailbox Manager<\/strong>, and click <strong>Add Mailbox<\/strong>.<\/em><\/li>\n<li><em>In the <strong>Choose mailboxes <\/strong>dialog, click on the mailbox name you want to add, and then click <strong>Add<\/strong>.<\/em><\/li>\n<li><em>Click <strong>OK <\/strong>to close the dialog and add the selected mailbox.<\/em><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<\/div>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/li>\n<li>Right-click the mailbox, and click <strong>Properties<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<li>In the <strong>Offline archive synchronization <\/strong>section, turn on <strong>Enable<\/strong>.\n<div class=\"alert alert-info m-alert-icon m-icon-info\">\n<p><em>The default settings are taken from the<strong> <a href=\"https:\/\/campus.barracuda.com\/product\/archiveone\/article\/display\/BPE\/43222853\/\">Offline Archive<\/a><\/strong> page of the <a href=\"https:\/\/campus.barracuda.com\/product\/archiveone\/article\/display\/BPE\/43222670\/\">Status <\/a>node.<\/em><\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/li>\n<li>If you want to change the default settings, click <strong>Configure<\/strong>, and in\u00a0the <strong>Offline archive synchronization settings <\/strong>dialog box, make the desired changes, and then click <strong>OK<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<li>Click <strong>OK<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<h4 id=\"h4_5\" class=\"heading-index heading-offlinerepositoryupdates\" data-parent=\"h3_0\" data-counter=\"5\" data-depth=\"4\">Offline Repository Updates<\/h4>\n<p>By default, the ArchiveOne Service updates the offline repositories for any enabled mailbox at 6:00am daily. To change this schedule,<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>Right-click <strong>Status<\/strong>, and click <strong>Configure<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<li>In the <strong>Status properties <\/strong>dialog box, click the <strong>Offline Archive <\/strong>tab.<\/li>\n<li>In the <strong>Offline archive Synchronization schedule <\/strong>section, click <strong>Schedule <\/strong>to change the processing time, or click <strong>Synchronize now <\/strong>to update the offline repositories immediately.<\/li>\n<li>Click <strong>OK <\/strong>to save your changes.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<h4 id=\"h4_6\" class=\"heading-index heading-laptopclient\" data-parent=\"h3_0\" data-counter=\"6\" data-depth=\"4\">Laptop Client<\/h4>\n<p>The <a href=\"https:\/\/campus.barracuda.com\/product\/archiveone\/article\/display\/BPE\/43222771\/\">Laptop Client<\/a> component must be installed on the laptop. Additionally, it needs to know the Configuration server name of the server to which ArchiveOne is connecting. When a user runs Outlook on any PC that has the Laptop Client installed, it checks to see if that mailbox has an offline repository available on the server, and if so configures synchronization.<\/p>\n<p>You can change whether a given mailbox is enabled for synchronization at any time. If you disable a mailbox for offline synchronization, the ArchiveOne Service does not update that particular offline repository until you enable it.<\/p>\n<p>You can change the default repository for a mailbox\u00a0at any time; this does not affect the availability of messages when the laptop is working offline. The offline archive will\u00a0contain all messages from all the currently configured repositories, regardless of the default repository configured\u00a0for this mailbox.<\/p>\n<p>At any time you can force both the ArchiveOne Service and the Laptop Client to clear the currently stored offline cache and rebuild it from scratch.
